Death has robbed the Kamba community a number of leaders who proved to the World that they were born to serve.
Some of the leaders died after leaving their seats while others in the office.
Their deaths shook the entire country.
Here are three powerful Ukambani leaders who died in office:
1. Tonny Ndilinge
Former Kilome MP Tony Ndilinge is still remembered as one of the most powerful politicians from Ukambani.
More than ten years since his departure, the family still believes his death was planned.
Ndilinge was shot twice on the head when he parked his car outside a bar in Nairobi.
His family claimed the murder was politically motivated.
“Political murders are never solved in Kenya, and they will never be solved. It has never happened,” says the late MP’s second wife Serah.
2. Senator Mutula Kilonzo
The former Makueni Senator, late Mutula Kilonzo's death shook the country.
Kilonzo was among the most outspoken leaders from Ukambani.
When he was pronounced dead on 27 April 2013, Kenyans could not believe he was no more.
He is remembered for his push for reforms in the education sector including the Mutula skirts.
3. Francis Nyenze
Former Kitui West MP, late Francis Nyenze died in 2017.
Nyenze was former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka's great supporter.
He was among the leaders who insisted that Kamba’s had been given a raw deal when NASA named former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as its presidential candidate ahead of 2017 elections.
