Of those interdicted,  32 are from Gucha South and 9 from Sameta Sub Counties in Kisii region. Kenya National Union of Teachers had opposed the exercise through a statement by Secretary-General Wilson Sossion.

Lucy Machuki, the Gucha KNUT Secretary General,  has termed the decision by TSC to interdict headteachers as 'malice and intimidation to teachers'.

"This is malicious and intimidation to teachers and the union as well. Headteachers were only supposed to attend the training for the first day which they did. It's not the Headteachers who disrupted the training," she argued.

The officer added: "It's us, actually KNUT officials and myself who disrupted the exercise . Anyway, we did not even disrupt it. We were having sideline talks with the school heads."

According to her, teachers received show cause letters on 2nd of May which according to the law, the alleged teacher is supposed to reply within seven working days upon receiving the letter.

"After show cause letters have been received, which they received on 2nd, the victim is supposed to respond within seven days. After the seven days are over, the interdiction letter is sent back.

"Now TSC has sent interdiction letters before the seven days are over. The teachers received the letters on Monday which is totally unacceptable," she protested.

Kenya National Union of Teachers has already submitted the letters to its lawyer, a step Lucy says will ensure the victims to get Justice.

She accused Education boss Prof George Magoha of Imposing a system to teachers which according to them, needs more time to bear fruits.

"You cannot impose a system and intimidate the same teachers implementing it. Magoha cannot intimidate the union. We are moving to court and our National Secretary General Wilson Session has already taken up the matter and he is following due process," she added.

Last week, Prof Magoha insisted that the training will go ahead as planned. He accused the union of propagating propaganda against the proposed changes to the education system.
