Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa has been elected the head of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) county chairs.

The lawmaker who doubles up as the Nairobi County party Chair was handed the new post on Friday, in an election exercise attended by various chairs across the 47 counties.

The poll was conducted at the party's headquarters at Orange House in Nairobi.

His new additional roles, according to the party, will include coordinating the affairs of the Chairs and acting as the link between them and the party national secretariat.

"Makadara MP Hon. George Aladwa who is also the Party Chairman, Nairobi County was today elected by Chairpersons from other Counties as their head.

"His role will be to coordinate their affairs and be the link between them and the National Secretariat," the party confirmed in a statement.

The group also held talks aimed at coming up with new ideas to aid in rejuvenating the party ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Secretary-General Agnes Zani and Director of Membership Rosemary Kariuki.

"Party Chairpersons from various counties across Kenya today held a consultative meeting at Orange House to plan on how to rejuvenate the party and inject new ideas on how to grow the party ahead of 2022.

Deputy Secretary-General Agnes Zani and Director of Membership Ms. Rosemary Kariuki attended the meeting," the party added.
