Police in Kericho on Wednesday rearrested Nyamira County Secretary Erick Onchana few minutes after he secured Sh200, 000 bond.
The Head of Civil Service was first arrested on Tuesday evening following a warrant of arrest served by former Kisii Town Mayor and political advisor to Governor John Nyagarama, Mr Alloys Moseti.
He was ferried to Kericho High Court on Wednesday morning after spending a night at Nyamira Police Station over delayed payment of Sh1.6 million awarded by the court to Mr Moseti following what the court described as unlawful termination of Moseti's contract in 2014.
And minutes after securing freedom past midday on Wednesday, police rearrested Mr Onchana over a similar case involving lawyer Steve Mogaka.
Sources intimate that Mr Mogaka had secured a warrant of arrest against Onchana and First Lady Naomi Nyagarama last year after they failed to pay him Sh1.2 million each for legal services rendered.
Hawk-eyed officers were reportedly served by Mr Mogaka with the warrant before pouncing on the outspoken County Secretary.
Currently, he's being detained at Kericho Police Station but it's unclear when he is likely to be arraigned in court to face charges on the second case.
For the better part of Wednesday, several county employees travelled to Kericho with panic gripping the county government over the latest development.
Should police delay preparing charge sheet, Mr Onchana is likely to spend another night behind bars, this time far away from home.
