A class one pupil at Kindu Primary School in Awendo, Migori County was defiled and impregnated.
The 13-year-old child who is also said to be mentally ill was confirmed expectant on Wednesday at a local clinic in the area.
The child's grandmother suspected the child was pregnant after close observation and decided to take her to a health facility within the area when she tested positive.
From the results, the girl is said to be not more than a month pregnant.
The area chief Mr. Ezekiel Kokeyo confirmed that police had been alerted and they were already on the move to hunt down the suspect.
The minor who is said to have mastered the face of the culprit, could not vividly reveal exactly what happened.
She only said the crime took place at a stream.
Mr. Kokeyo said they will be forced to use the girl in identifying the unknown suspect.
He said they will be presenting suspects to the girl for her to identify the culprit.
“We have launched a manhunt for the suspect and we will move around with the girl to help us identify him so that he can be arrested and charged for defilement,” Mr. Kokeyo told Citizen
Police have said they are sure they will get the suspect.
