Governor Lenolkulal has been barred from withdrawing from the said accounts until investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is completed.

The EACC is investigating the misappropriation of 1.6 billion shillings that is suspected to have been sneaked from the county to private accounts through improper deals and tenders.

The EACC accused the governor of awarding tenders to companies allied to him, in which he paid them heavily so that he could hide his looting processes.

It is alleged that he purchased properties worth millions in Karen, Nairobi County in the year 2015.

“It is reasonably suspected that the proceeds of the aforesaid contract which are public funds may have been used by the governor to purchase the properties and to accumulate substantial property of illicit wealth which is amenable to forfeiture to the state," read court papers from the EACC as reported by Citizen

The EACC told the court that the governor was mostly likely going to withdraw money from the 5 bank accounts owned by his companies which in the process might interfere with evidence put against him.

“The commission is reasonably apprehensive that the governor, in light of the ongoing investigations, may in the intervening period, transfer, dispose or in any other way deal with the properties to defeat the course of justice before the commission has completed its investigations and commenced civil proceedings,” added EACC
