Former Kibwezi Member of Parliament (MP) Kalembe Ndile has hailed the government's move to extend the nationwide Huduma Namba registration exercise.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Friday evening, Ndile said that the move will help Kenyans get the Namba without much pressure.
He noted that many Kenyans especially those at the grassroots and villages are yet to take part in the exercise.
“It is good that the government finally softened their stand and extended the Huduma Namba registration exercise to ensure that no one is locked out,” he said.
Ndile said that the Huduma Namba is a good initiative, noting that it will be a game changer in service delivery.
He pleaded with Kenyans who are yet to register to do so to avoid last minute rush.
On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta extended the Huduma Namba registration exercise by one week. The Head of State expressed concerns over the last minute rush by Kenyans to register.
“It brings to the fore an ingrained last minute rush habit that holds us back.Nevertheless, Kenyans are determined to register their Huduma Namba and I have obliged to the numerous requests to give them an opportunity to do so,” said President Kenyatta.
The Huduma Namba registration exercise is now expected to come to a close on May 25, 2019.
According to President Kenyatta, 35 million Kenyans have so far registered on the National Integrated Management System (NIIMS).
