With just countable hours to the kick off of Kenya Universities Sports Associations (KUSA) games scheduled for the upcoming weekend, the University of Eldoret ladies on Wednesday suffered a double blow towards the competition in which they are lastly to be the hosts.
The university's football team first goalkeeper, Damarice Awino, nicknamed Savior got an injury in the match when she went to save a shot fired by the Nangili players.
The striker turned keeper who is now in her third year taking a bachelor of Education, Chemistry and Biology, has been a celebrated player who plays any number in the pitch of football.
She was injured in the arm after a joint was dislocated and had to be rushed to the team doctor Josephat Piloshi for further check-ups.
Speaking upon seeking medical attention after the game where the keeper had to be substituted, Damarice who doubles up as the school team captain said that they live by the statement of their head coach, Joshua Ariko, who believes that the KUSA 2019 is a must-win game for the ladies.
The university ladies team had doubled their misfortunes where they were beaten in a friendly match in which they played National secondary schools 2018 ladies champions, Moi Girls Nangili at the University of Eldoret pavilion.
The lone goal was scored by the Nangili striker nicknamed, 'Maasai' on the 85th minute.
It now remains to be seen if the friendly lose and injury of captain Damarice will lower the university soccer team's morale in the forthcoming KUSA games.
