“Murathe holds a very influential position in the party so his opinion counts,” political analyst Nerima Wako-Ojiwa said on Thursday when contacted.

The Jubilee vice-chairman while speaking in Mbale, Vihiga County on Wednesday said that the Kikuyu community has no signed MoU with Ruto regarding his support in 2022.

He further questioned what else the DP needs having served as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s deputy for two terms.

“If he (DP Ruto) has a MoU with Uhuru Kenyatta, then that was an agreement between two individuals,” stated Murathe.

He added: “If you have led with Uhuru for two terms, what else do you want?”

This statement, observed the analyst, shows that “there have been whispers” about the uncertainty by Mt Kenya voters in supporting DP Ruto in 2022 for the presidency.

“It does show there have been whispers that nothing is owed in 2022 and also that Ruto is on his own to fend for his political ambitions alone. Without support from Mt Kenya region, his political career is dead,” Nerima offered.

Murathe joins a number of politicians from Mt Kenya region to speak against Ruto’s support by the region’s voters in 2022.

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has been a strong critic of the purported agreement that Mt Kenya voters will support Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid as a way to pay him back for supporting Uhuru in 2013 and 2017.
