Following the attacked that brought the business to a standstill at hotel Dusitd2 on Tuesday afternoon, the management of the complex and high-end hotel have issued a statement.
They regretted the unfortunate event in which 14 people were confirmed dead.
“The management and staff of Dusit Hotels & Resorts is devastated at the incident which took place at the Dusit hotel complex in Nairobi on 15 January at about 16:00 local time (13:00 GMT).
"We are extremely saddened by this act of violence and would like to extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected. Our highest concern is the safety and well-being of our guests and employees, and we are providing every support we can," the statement reads in part.
The management further noted that the Royal Thai Embassy, Nairobi, Kenya had confirmed that all the Thai staff were safe.
"The local authorities have taken control of the complex and are dealing with the situation. We are in constant contact with the authorities and would like to thank them for their swift response. Our guests and upcoming reservations are being relocated to other hotels in the city, and the hotel is closed until further notice,” the hotel management stated.
The hotel is owned by Dusit International company which operates and manages 25 other properties across the world. Other facilities are located in Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, UAE, and Vietnam.
The company has been in operation for over 65 years and is its facilities are considered world-class hospitality destinations, characterized by the iconic touches of service and artistry of Thailand.
