Kaluyu says the country is in a dangerous direction as political temperatures steadily rise.

In a phone interview with Hivisasa on Monday, Kaluyu said it is too early for politicians to start campaigning or engage in succession politics.

The former presidential candidate also lamented that some elected leaders have abandoned their duties and are now campaigning for 2022.

“We are going the wrong direction as a country and politicians must be told that it is too early to start campaigns,” he said.

Kaluyu asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to stamp his authority and bring to an end to the succession politics. He said no development is going on in the country as politicians focus on 2022 general election.

“It is time for Kenyans to stand up and say no to mediocrity by recalling politicians who have abandoned their mandate,” he added.

Kaluyu further warned against the use of inflammatory remarks by some politicians saying it can easily trigger animosity among Kenyans.

The 2022 succession debate continues to take centre stage as politicians engage in endless debate on who should succeed President Kenyatta.
