Detectives probing the callous murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani are having a hard time grilling Joseph Irungu alias Jowie who is a key suspect in the murder.
Jowie, a trained mercenary, is reportedly a guarded suspect who has ‘remained composed and stuck to I did not kill her’.
A detective who spoke to the Nation said they have been unable to milk any information from the suspect.
“We are relying on circumstantial evidence for now, but we have not been successful in getting any important information from the main suspect in our custody. He has not helped much. All he says is that he was not involved in the murder. He is very guarded,” the source told the paper anonymously.
The suspect, together with his lover TV journalist Jacque Maribe, has been in custody over the murder.
Police said a fingerprints analysis show Irungu was at the house where Monica was found dead.
Among items dusted for fingerprints are furniture and two glasses found on the table.
The suspects will on October 17 apply for a bail before Justice James Wakiaga.
