Central Organisation of Trade Union Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Saturday launched a scathing attack against politician Bonny Khalwale.
Atwoli hit out at Khalwale for his support for Deputy President William Ruto in his political ambitions.
“There is Bonny Khalwale, and he will never be anything. His mother sold chang’aa to raise him in hopes that he would help the family but now he isn’t and I ask God that he remains a beggar,” Atwoli said.
The vocal unionist spoke at Lamu where he was attending a fundraising event for a women caucus.
Atwoli claimed that the former Kakamega senator’s political star will not shine again.
“Khalwale will not become the Kakamega governor (in 2022), he will not. His time is long gone,” Atwoli said.
Bonny Khalwale has been backing Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid and he recently told off Luhya leaders who are gunning support for the top seat.
“Still, even if all Luhya voters came together and voted for one person, they cannot manage to win the presidency because they will not meet the constitutional threshold.
We must, therefore, think of engaging in the formation of alliances with other communities to raise our stake in the country’s politics,” Khalwale earlier said.
Atwoli and Khalwale have been in political differences over the Luyha leadership.
