The lawmaker while speaking in Suna West constituency during a church fundraiser said that all elements of corruption upon the verdict of culpability to be sent to the gallows.

“I’m soon coming up with a bill to ensure those charged with corruption are hanged. We cannot win the war on corruption if stringent measures are not put in place,” says Okello.

Okello said as legislators, they will not allow few individuals to interfere with the dignity and welfare of the taxpayers by swindling resources that ought to help them(taxpayers).

The legislator at the same time questioned why the tax recovery agency has been reluctant to recall wealth of those have been found guilty of corruption.

“I’m wondering why EACC has not been able to recover the assets of people adversely mentioned in corruption scandals. If they mean business in this war then they should act speedily to regain Kenyans confidence,” he added.

His Nyatike counterpart Tom Odege said that the anti-graft agencies should crack their whip on county officials as well.

He said counties should be audited thoroughly as millions of cash have been misappropriated at the devolved units leaving the counties dry.

“The auditor general should tighten his noose on counties because it is at the devolved units where public funds are looted,” he said.

Odege particularly took issue with the Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu who is alleged to have deposited cash to his daughter.

“How can a governor transfer a whole one hundred Million to his daughter’s account and still expects to be handled with respect. He should be made to serve as an example to other corrupt officials,” said Odege.
