One of the arguments advanced by one of his lawyers, Rodgers Sagana, was that Obado has a severe spinal problem which requires keen medical attention.

"He has a severe spinal problem that needs constant medical attention," Mr Sagana argued on behalf of Governor Obado.

The governor has spent over three weeks behind bars as his lawyers continue to make the case for him to be granted bail.

Justice Lesiit, who has been hearing the bail application, is expected to make a verdict on the application on October 24.

Obado faces grave murder charges following the gruesome killing of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno whose disemboweled body was discovered in Kodera forest.

Sharon's murder case has gripped the Kenyan public for days on end.
