A top pupil in the 2018 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam has said he was inspired by ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
Kelvin Munene Gichuki, 13, of Tenri Primary School in Embu was the top student in the region with 437 marks out of the possible 500.
The soft-spoken pupil said he had been a fan of the opposition leader and admires his role in Kenya’s political arena.
Gichuki said he loves Raila’s energy and his performance in the several positions he has held in government.
“He is an engineer and would like to be like him. He was a super minister when he worked in the roads ministry,” Gichuki said.
The pupil said he wants to pursue structural engineering.
It was jubilation at school on Monday after the school produced the top student in the county.
It was the second year in a row that Tenri primary was producing the top student in the county.
