The prosecution told the court that the suspect, Colonel Omboga committed the offense on September 1, 2018, at Ogembo trading center.

The court further heard that the suspect lured the minor into his rented single-roomed house after buying her Sh20 chips.

Appearing before resident magistrate Margaret Nafula, the suspect denied the defilement charges against him.

Omboga pleaded with the court to release him on bond on grounds that his wife is 8 months pregnant and he is the only one providing for her.

"I am innocent and I didn't commit the said offense. My enemies are fixing me to be jailed for nothing and I have a pregnant wife at home who depends on me," he told the court.

However, the magistrate accepted the suspect's plea and ordered he be released on Sh100,000 bond.

Ms Nafula warned the suspect against boycotting court proceedings.

The case is set for mention on September 13, 2018, when hearing of the case will be set.
