A section of Gusii leaders have reacted following President Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to delegate special assignment to his Deputy William Ruto at State House, Mombasa.
Ruto on Saturday was assigned to accompany visiting Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi at the coastal region, a responsibility which should be performed by the President.
Gusii leaders have reacted differently.
"Uhuru's assignment to DP Ruto tells that he trust and believes in his Deputy. Kenyans should be ready to elect DP Ruto as the next President in 2022," said Isaac Motari, a Jubilee youth leader.
He argued that the duo have been working closely, focused on uniting Kenyans and developing all corners of this country.
Lillian Marwa, ANC party politician based in Kisii praised Uhuru saying he is not power selfish.
"Uhuru is a true leader and I am requesting other politicians to follow his example. When a leader has a tight schedule he or she should delegate duties to others to perform on behalf the same way Uhuru did to DP Ruto," she noted.
However, she said DP Ruto should not be sure of Uhuru's endorsement in 2022.
