The man only identified as Kimani who sells vegetables and groceries at the centre is said to have called the lady who was passing by. The lady, Jeniffer Nyawira responded to the call and walked towards Kimani's store. On reaching the store, he tried to woo her to no success.

"He began telling me how much he loves me. It was strange and awkward for me. I did not know what to do. So I turned him down politely," Nyawira stated.

But when Nyawira was turning to walk away, Kimani did the unexpected; he pulled her back and tried to plant a kiss on the lady's lips. The lady who was now embarrassed and angry slapped the man in desperate efforts to free herself.

"I was lucky some students were passing by. They booed him and came to my defence. I have bought groceries at his store on several occasions but I never knew such an embarrassing thing can ever happen," Nyawira explained.

According to the second year student in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, this was not the first time Kimani had made a move on her. He had once tried asking her out and Nyawira thinking it was just a joke had accepted. Probably that is what convinced Kimani that the lady would agree to his kiss.

The students who had stood up for Nyawira scolded Kimani and warned him against forcing himself on students.
