There was drama on Sunday at Chebilat in Nyamira County after a man and his wife engaged in a fist fight over a glass of local brew 'chang'aa'.
Neighbors said trouble started when Edward Nyaringo returned home from work only to find a glass of 'chang'aa' he had kept in the cupboard missing".
"Nyaringo couldn't find a glass full of chang'aa he had kept in the cupboard when he returned home. Upon questioning his wife, Florence Kemunto she told him that she had poured it intentionally," said a neighbor Christopher Ombongi.
Mr. Ombongi noted that angered Nyaringo descended on his wife with kicks and blows before the wife fought back in self-defense.
"Nyaringo started the fight prompting Kemunto to fight back. I heard their 4-year-old daughter crying for help and rushed their only to find the two fighting outside their house," said Omboni.
A local chief Boniface Onditi said it took the intervention of neighbors to stop the two from fighting.
"Nyaringo's wife said she poured the chang'aa because she wants her husband to stop consuming alcohol," said the chief.
He assured that chang'aa sellers and makers are being hunted down.
The chief warned men against beating their wives saying the law will not spare them.
