Parents of the slain Rongo University student Sharon Beryl Otieno have suspended funeral arrangements for their daughter.
The parents say they will not bury their daughter until investigations surrounding the brutal murder of their daughter last week are completed and her killers brought to book.
Speaking in Homabay on Tuesday, Sharon Otieno’s parents, Douglas Otieno and Melida Auma said they have no plans to bury their daughter.
“We are not carrying out any burial preparations, we cannot talk much unless our lawyer divulges more information,” Auma said as quoted by the Nation.
The parents have now taken a stand similar to that of Homabay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Opondo Kaluma who initially said that burial for the late Sharon Otieno will not take place until police arrest and prosecute her killers.
Kaluma is acting as the late Sharon’s family lawyer.
The body of the student who was said to be seven-month pregnant was discovered a week ago at the Kodera Forest in Homabay County, after being abducted alongside Nation Reporter Barack Oduor.
Barack however survived the ordeal by jumping off the abductor’s speeding car.
Two people, former Member of the County Assembly and aid to Migori governor Zachary Okoth Obado have since been arrested in connection to the murder.
