People talk ill about their partners; how stupid, selfish or unromantic they are, but they still stick in such prisons.
Previously, it was believed that such partners stick in such relationships due to the fear of being lonely, but now that may not be the case.
On the contrary, a new study reveals that such partners tend to be more empathetic.
They fear for their lovers who depend on them. The more someone thinks that his or her lover leans on them, the harder they are likely to part ways.
According to scientists from The University of Utah, people generally never want to make their lovers suffer, and would struggle to give them whatever they want.
"When people perceive that the partner is highly committed to the relationship, they are less likely to initiate a breakup," says the author, Samantha Joel.
However, Madeleine Roantree, a dating psychologist argues that being single or the feeling of loneliness is the major reason why people remain deeply embedded in unhappy relationships.
