The foreign legislators said they had visited the country to learn more on Kenya's devolved system of governance.

Led by Mr. Christoph Plob, a German parliamentarian on Transport and Infrastructure, the MPs said they chose to visit Makueni County due to its tangible successes in implementing devolution.

"We are very impressed with what Kibwana is doing, I  think this county is the best so far according to reports and its success," Plob said.

Plob spoke during their visit to the county on Tuesday.

Kibwana said they discussed several development strategies.

"The strategies we discussed can be borrowed to improve entrenchment of the people-centered governance in both Kenya and German," Kibwana said.

He said politically driven development, especially from Germans Christian Democratic Union party of Chancellor Angela Markel, has steered Germany to Europe's biggest economy for the past 16 years.

"We should emulate some good leadership if we want the best for our people and improve our economy," he added.

Kibwana disclosed that among key issues of interest discussed included youth empowerment and active participation in development, health, education, performance management, agricultural value addition, and Climate change.
