Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi has hinted that opposition leader Raila Odinga could once again take a shot at the presidential seat in the approaching 2022 general elections.
Speaking on Milele FM's Kivumbi Show Tuesday morning, the lawmaker said that Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will fully participate in the presidential race.
The ODM lawmaker observed that Raila is the most qualified candidate for the party ticket and as well the best bet for Kenyans seeking better leadership.
"In 2022 we the ODM party will produce a presidential candidate and a winner in the elections," he predicted.
If realized, this will be Raila's fifth stab at the top seat, the last one being in the 2017 elections where he lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
But according to Atandi, the former Prime Minister won the race as was the case in the previous poll and the earlier one in 2007.
"We have won each presidential election since 2017 but we only never managed to make it to the Statehouse. But 2022 is out time to do both," he claimed.
This, however, comes at a time when Raila himself has been very silent on the issue, instead of calling upon political leaders to shelve the 2022 debate and concentrate in service delivery.
