Garissa Women Representative Anab Gure has defended National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale over the contraband sugar report that was rejected in Parliament last week.
Gure says that claims that Duale and other MPS rejected the report in defense of Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) allegedly indicted in the report are not true.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday at Parliament buildings in Nairobi, Gure that the MPs rejected the report on grounds that it was shallow with many gaps.
“People should stop this attacks because they are not adding value, the report was opposed on grounds of having many gaps,” the Jubilee MP said.
Gure stated a person of Duale’s caliber cannot oppose a report on grounds of siding to save a person implicated in it.
The MP also refuted claims that some MPs were paid to shoot down the report down.
“I personally did not witness any bribery as it is being reported in the media and claimed by some of our colleagues,” she stated.
The MP however supported calls for investigation into the bribery allegations, adding that those implicated should be dealt with according to the law.
Duale alongside other MPs are on the spot for shooting down the sugar report.
The Garissa Township MP has however defended himself denying claims of siding with Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and East Africa CS Adan Mohamed who had been named in the importation of illegal sugar report.
