The battle for Migori Senatorial seat in the upcoming by-election is proving to be more divisive, at least going by the recent turn of events.
The seat which fell vacant following the death of Senator Ben Oluoch has attracted many aspirants all of whom are angling for the ODM party ticket.
However, as it stands now, former Rongo MP Ochillo Ayacko is expected to be unveiled as the party’s candidate amid jitters over the party’s mode of picking a candidate.
To further make things worse, the late Senator’s family is embroiled in divisions over the choice of the candidate with his elder son Willis Oluoch and nephew Mark Okundi all keen to try their luck.
Reports indicate that the family had settled on Okundi as their preferred choice. However, the young Oluoch has stood his ground saying that he will be in the ballot against the wishes of the family members.
“I am Okello’s first-born son, and should there be anything like family endorsement, then let other people not take advantage of this situation to coerce my family to serve their personal greed,” he said as quoted by Standard.
This has left the late Senator’s widows supporting different candidates. Where will it end? Only time will tell.
