Trouble started when a county askari, Emmanuel Ogendi, tried to chase a bodaboda rider who was not wearing a reflector and helmet, but was blocked by revenue clerk Martin Obwoge.

"Ogendi was angered after Obwoge blocked him from harassing the bodaboda rider. The two exchanged blows as traders watched and cheering," said a witness Albert Ongoro.

Mr Ongoro said the county askari was overpowered by the revenue clerk, prompting traders and other bodaboda riders to intervene.

Nyamira OCPD Lilis Wachira condemned the county officials terming them a disgrace.

"It is unfortunate that Ogendi and Obwoge decided to fight in public. It shows the bad image between the county askaris and revenue collectors," said Wachira.

The OCPD warned residents against unnecessary fights saying police officers will arrest those involved.

"I want to urge members of the public not to fight because such fights may lead to unnecessary deaths," the OCPD noted.
