Former Makadara MP Benson Mutura now claims that opposition leader Raila Odinga has more plans apart from breaking the ruling Jubilee Party.
Speaking on Saturday, the Jubilee member said that Raila who hails and leads the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is planning to hijack the party.
He claimed that the plan is to chase out hostile elements and then take over the party and merge it with ODM, hoping to use the same to realize his 2022 presidential ambitions.
The former parliamentarian claimed that Raila is using his March 9, 2018 truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta to do the same, now that he is close to the Jubilee leadership.
"He is now trying to hijack our party. He thinks that we have forgotten his history of destroying political parties. He wants to take over our party," said Mutura.
He was speaking on Radio Jambo Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.
Other members of the panel included Makadara lawmaker George Aladwa and political analyst Brian Weke.
However, he warned the African Union Infrastructure Development Envoy that the plan will not succeed, reminding him that Jubilee is not a property of Uhuru but Kenyans.
Mutura added that he will soon launch a movement to demand for fresh party elections to remove interim party leaders apparently helping Raila with his plans.
"We will not allow him to bring problems to Jubilee and will soon be demanding for party elections to bring the party back to the people," said Mutura.
