Harambee Stars head coach Sebastien Migne has explained his decision to start defender Joash Onyango during their match against Malawi.
The defender was sent off during the match against Ghana on Saturday but was on the starting lineup during the Malawi friendly match.
According to Migne, he wants to build consistency at the back, reason why he stuck with Onyango.
“I know Joash is banned for the first leg of the upcoming qualifier against Ethiopia but I felt for my backline to remain with confidence, he needed to start,” he said.
Adding “I also had several players out injured. David Owino was out and Brian Mandela was not in the squad. My target was to keep another clean sheet against Malawi and the partnership of Onyango and Mohammed is working out very well.”
The French won his second match in charge of Stars, beating the Flames of Malawi 1-0.
This was the second win in three days after they beat Ghana by the same margin on Saturday.
