This is after Citizen TV reported that the former Bomet Governor had hosted anti-Ruto forces at his rural home on Saturday.

He said the meeting was purely made of delegates from his CCM party, and rubbished claims they were strategising against Ruto.

"I wish to set the record straight that at no time did we discuss matters relating to the Deputy President, political camps or alignments – and unedited footage on the entire meeting is available," he said in a tweet on Sunday.

The former county boss said it was not CCM's business to discuss affairs of other parties,  and accused the local TV of an attempt to separate him with the DP.

"To purport that we discussed the Deputy President is an attempt to drive a wedge between CCM, its members, the leadership and a section of the political elite and other parties – which is not our business," he remarked.

The CCM boss said he was an advocate of free media, and urged the local television to exercise their freedom 'with professionalism that is devoid of innuendos'.
