This follows reports that locals were working and sympathizing with the alleged Al Shabaab militants to terrorise non-locals working in the border counties.

Speaking during an anti-radicalization conference, Governor Korane asked participants to establish a compensation modality for all non-locals either killed or maimed by the terrorist outfit.

‘It is only when we finalise this noble initiative of ‘maslaha‘ (compensation) that locals will eventually feel the pain of non-locals being butchered within our midst. In fact,  it will be 33 per cent of the money  that will be paid to the families whose loved ones are killed by the Al Shabaab,’ said Korane.

Responding to the latest incident where two non-local teachers were killed at Arabia High, Korane asked his Mandera counterpart Ali Roba to work on compensating their families for the loss.

‘I am now requesting Governor Ali Roba to organize for compensations to the families of two slain Arabia Boys' High school teachers who were killed while serving our children. This is the only viable way of combating terrorism in the entire region because we know Al Shabaab men eat and sleep within our midst. They never come and attack from nowhere, they are always facilitated by us locals,' added Korane.
