On Monday evening, Kenyans were in great shock when they tried to access some government websites. It was later revealed that an Indonesia hacker group, Kurd Electronic Team, had managed to gain access to the websites.

ICT Authority CEO Katherine Gitau confirmed that the allegations were true, but did not reveal much about the issue.

“It’s true that the websites including IFMIS were attached this morning. The office of the government spokesperson should be able to release the official statement on the matter today (Monday),” she said.

Controversial lawyer through his Twitter handle has since claimed that the hacking is just but a cover-up measure by President Uhuru and his close associates.

Miguna said that it is a plan to conceal millions of shillings stolen from the institutions whose websites were hacked including the National Youth Service (NYS) that has in recent years witnessed endless scandals that involved a huge amount of money.

"Uhuru Kenyatta and his mafia cabals have looted trillions of public money through IFMIS, NYS and other state institutions and departments, now, they have carried out PEDESTRIAN computer infiltration to cover their tracks. Amateurs! tweeted Miguna.

More so, government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna in a statement released yesterday evening said 18 government websites had been compromised by hackers.

He, however, said the hackers only attacked the websites and not the systems

"Government databases and ICT systems, including IFMIS and other critical infrastructure are managed within secure government private network that has requisite security, and remain safe," Oguna saidHe concluded that government experts are up working to ensure the websites are restored as soon as possible.
