Supporters of embattled Migori Governor Okoth Obado on Wednesday celebrated his release from remand terming it as God answered prayer.
The supporters who thronged Milimani Law Courts as early as 6 AM said that they had been praying for the Governors’ release.
The supporters sang and danced outside the courts moments after the governor was grated Sh5 Million bail.
“Our prayers have been answered, and we thank God for releasing our governor,” a supporter said.
The supporter’s chanted ‘Baba, Baba, Baba’ in reference to the Migori Governor.
“We know he is innocent of the crimes being levelled against him and God will again fight for his acquittal of the charges,” a supporter said.
The supporters claimed that case against the Governor is weak and he is allegedly being fought politically.
“We know those behind this case and they will not succeed,” another supporter said.
Justice Jessie Lessit grated Obado Sh5 Million bail with two sureties of a similar amount.
While issuing the bail terms, Justice Lessit ordered Obado to surrender his travel documents to the court.
Obado was also warned against interfering with witnesses.
Justice Lessit at the same time declined to grant bail to Obado’s co-accused persons Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero.
She said that the evidence against the two is critical hence the denial of bail.
Governor Obado has been in remand for the last 33 days.
He pleaded not guilty to killing Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby.
