Police in Naivasha are hunting down a group of youths which reportedly attacked a police officer and robbed him of his gun.
The incident happened in Karagita Estate when an officer raided a drinking den where the youths were selling bhang.
The group pounced at the officer and attacked him with crude weapons before they robbed him the gun.
An operation to recover the weapon has been launched.
According to Samuel Njihia who witnessed the incident, the youths overpowered the lone officer before assaulting and robbing him.
“The issue of bhang is a major concern for residents of this estate and we are asking security agencies to make sure that those behind the illegal trade are arrested,” he told the Standard on Tuesday.
Confirming the incident, Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru said that his officers are doing their best to recover the weapon.
Several people have since been arrested in the area in relation to the incident, though the gun is yet to be found.
