Even though Raila had met Obama in a Nairobi hotel on Sunday, being in his backyard, a section of his supporters expected him to be among the dignitaries.

And at Borabu Watchtower WhatsApp group, Bosire, a former Kitutu Masaba MP, said Raila had not planned to travel to Siaya.

"It is something that should not bother anyone. Raila held his formal meeting with Obama and it was optional that he traveled to Nyanza.

"All issues he had were raised on Sunday. Actually, the presence of Mama Ida is itself a representation by extension," said Bosire, a staunch supporter of Raila.

Earlier, a section of the users had speculated that Obama's 'bad' treatment to Raila in 2015 when he was US president precipitated Raila's decision to snub the function.

"Barack scolded opposition in 2015 and failed to listen to their pleas. Raila should have not even met him in the first place," said Captain Menge.

There were reports earlier that Siaya Governor Amoth Rasanga refused to be screened by Secret Service, insisting that he was the area boss.

Among top leaders present in the launch of Sauti Kuu Foundation include governor Peter Nyong'o and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
