An emergency meeting convened by Jubilee Party National Management Committee on Saturday resolved to kick out Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, reports the Standard.
The 6-hour meeting at the party headquarters proposed Bomet Senator Christopher Lang'at and Uasin Gishu counterpart Margaret Kamar as Murkomen's replacement.
Later on at State House, another meeting was reportedly held as the plot to kick out Murkomen intensified.
"The feeling in circles of power is that from the Senate Majority Leader's statements, his spirit was no longer in government.
"From opposition to lifestyle audit ordered by president to his outbursts over Mau evictions, he seems to have become an outsider," said a legislator who attended the meeting.
But it took the intervention of DP William Ruto, who was attending a fundraiser at Karisa Maitha stadium to save Murkomen after word reached him about the secret meeting.
While it is not clear how he managed it, the DP is said to have contacted President Uhuru Kenyatta and asked him to whip the committee from impeaching Murkomen.
