Controversial blogger Robert Alai is expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday after he was arrested for allegedly sharing gory pictures of slain Administration Police (AP) officers who died in the Wajir terror attack.
The blogger is facing a charge of disclosure of information in relation to terrorism activities.
In a mug shot shared online, the Anti- terror police unit did not expound on the details of the charge.
Alai was arrested on Tuesday by the detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
He is expected to be arraigned in Court on Wednesday to plead to the charge.
His arrest came a day after a warning from the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the National Police Service (NPS) warned against sharing of gory pictures related to terror activities.
Alai allegedly shared pictures of the fallen soldiers and took issue on how the government handled the officers after the attack on Saturday.
The bloggers arrest stirred an online uproar with a section of Kenyans on twitter (KOT) demanding for his release through twitter hashtag #FreeAlai.
Eight AP officers died after their vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Al-Shaabab militants in Wajir on Saturday last week.
Security has since been tightened in Wajir and the larger Northern Kenyan with fears that suspected militants could be staging attacks.
