A Maseno University student identified as Moses, made headlines a few years ago after he lost Sh40, 000 school fees on betting.
In an interview with a Hivisasa writer, Moses noted that he was tempted to bet on the then famous team that would ruin his life.
Operating on a strong believe that his team would win he placed a bet, only for them to lose. Since then, the student has never left the university premises.
He divulged that his education is in limbo since he was not able to do a number of exams 2 years ago.
“I have been avoided by everybody including my brothers and sisters, having failed them, I feel very sorry for the choice I made at that time. I did not know it would have adverse effects,” he said.
“Going to class is a waste of time since my parents refused to pay my school fees. Furthermore, they say I must produce the other money I placed on a bet so that they can continue providing for my education,” he added.
The student noted that he had learned his lesson and urged well wishers to step in, and aid his education.
“I really pray that I get a well wisher who would understand the situation I am in and help me raise the money so that I can finish my education. I have learnt my lesson and I swear never to engage in gambling again,” he noted.
“I do not want anybody else to go through what I experienced. It is so bad that one can even commit suicide. My advice to my fellow comrades is that they should avoid this gambling thing and simply focus on their studies,” he said.
