Allegations of a first-year Moi University male student being beaten almost to death by security guards during Friday's freshers' night event have now taken centre stage on most of the social media platforms.
A post by a Facebook user, Militia Wasghadhi Edward claimed that the first year student had stepped out of the event which was taking place at the students' centre for fresh air. When he came back, the security guards harassed and beat him brutally almost to death.
"But Jakom (the student leader in charge of security) its barbaric, obnoxious and imbecilic that the same bouncers decided to urinate on their job, molested and raped (used metaphorically) one of the comrades at the entry simply because the boy who happens to be a fresher, asked to allow him to enter," reads part of the post.
The Facebook user further reveals that the boy was left in pain struggling for his life until the university security men came to his rescue.

Samwel Jakom, the Moi University students leader in charge of security during a phone interview, however, stated that the first year student was drunk and had tried to disrupt the event.
"The boy was extremely drunk and came to disrupt the event. The security men handled him professionally and escorted him outside. He was not beaten as the reports on social media claim," he said.
Most of the students have however continued to express their opinions over the alleged reports on social media.
