The second term youthful governor has several times 'cheated' death in the hands of dreaded Al-Shabaab militants.

Roba, a vocal governor has been castigating the terrorist group as his county Mandera has in the recent years been hit with deadly terrorist attacks.

Here is why governor Roba is described as a human-being with 'nine lives of cat'.

In 2013, fresh from the general election, Governor Roba survived death narrowly when a vehicle in his convoy hit a landmine at Simo area in Lafey Arabia.

Several police officers were injured in the incident.

In March 2015, three people including three officers were killed after Governor Roba’s convoy was ambushed along the Mandera-Arabia road by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.

Governor Roba was heading to a public meeting when the attackers fired a rocket-propelled grenade hitting two of his escort vehicles.

On October 15, 2014, Governor Roba again escaped death narrowly when an Improvised Electronic Device (IED) exploded, damaging one of the vehicles in his convoy.

Governor Roba who has been castigating terror activities claimed that the terror militants want to eliminate him.

The governor at that time went on to allege that he had received a warning message through Whats-app from the terror militants.

He, however, said that he will not stop condemning terrorist attacks.

On Wednesday, suspected Al-Shabaab militants stormed Arabia secondary school in Mandera and killed two non- local teachers.

The militants also set ablaze several classrooms.

Governor Roba has since called on the government to heighten security in the county and the larger North Eastern region.
