The 2018 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is almost coming to an end and most parents will soon start shopping for colleges for their children’s higher education.
Kisumu County has some of the best public colleges in the country. These are:
1. Tom Mboya Labour College
It provides high quality education and training for trade unionists and students through conferences, workshops and seminars. The college provides education to students from all parts of the country and neighboring nations.
2. Kisumu National Polytechnic
It began operations as a technical secondary school way back in 1967. It is well known for provision of world class technical, vocational, entrepreneurial training and research.
3. Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT)
Located a few metres from Mkendwa, along Kisumu-Kakamega Road, it is one of the oldest colleges in Kisumu. It prides itself as a leader in technology training that responds to the vocational and technical needs of the Kenyan society.
4. Kenya Water Institute (KEWI)
KEWI Kisumu was the fourth campus to be established after Nairobi, Chiakariga and Kitui. It was established on Sept 6, 2012. It is located in Kibos, 8 kilometers from Kisumu town.
KEWI is mandated to offer training, administer examinations, offer research and consultancy services in the wider water sector.
5. Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Kisumu
As the name suggests, it offers medical related courses. Based in Kondele, Kisumu Medical Training College is one of the largest medical training institutions in the country.
