Speaking on phone on Tuesday at Matungulu sub-county, Wavinya said that Machakos people shouldn't vote her back in 2022 if her track record isn't appealing.

She said that having Mathuki as her deputy won't bar her from fulfilling her duties as Governor to Machakos people.

"Machakos people are my employers and if I'm elected governor in the by-election it will be my obligation to deliver to the electorates since I know if I won't do so I won't be re-elected," said Wavinya.

"It's my wish to serve Machakos people if given the chance and nothing will hold me back not my deputy or whoever."

This is after former Machakos Senator Muthama claimed that Mathuki is not fit to be Wavinya's running mate in the by-election.

Muthama claimed that Mathuki is cunning and conniving and will bar Wavinya from diligently performing her duties as Governor.

He cited that the Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka should keep away from Machakos politics and let the residents decide who to deputise Wavinya.

He said that he wouldn't support Wavinya if her deputy is not replaced since her leadership would be the same as that of Mutua.
