Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has constituted a team of senior prosecutors to prosecute Migori Governor Okoth Obado and other suspects linked to the brutal murder of Rongo University Student Sharon Otieno.
The team will be led by Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (SADPP) Tom Imbali who is in charge of murder at the office of the DPP.
The DPP in a statement said that the matter will be prosecuted immediately and expeditiously.
Haji also said that his office will continue to review the case until when all suspects linked to the murder will be arrested and charged in court.
The DPP asked the Director of Criminal Investigations to pursue all other people adversely mention in the murder.
Obado is expected to appear at the Milimani Law Courts to face a charge of aiding and abetting murder.
The governor was arrested on Friday last week and spend the weekend at Gigiri police station.
According to detectives, Obado is a person of interest into the student’s brutal murder.
A DNA report confirmed that Obado was the father of Sharon Otieno’s unborn baby who also died when the slain student was stabbed eight times.
Other suspects who are Obado’s Personal Assistants, Michael Oyamo will be charged with murder and Caspal Obiero faces a charge of aiding and abetting murder.
