As we head to the 2022 general elections, several politicians are eyeing various seats.
In Uasin Gishu, a major political contest is expected for the gubernatorial seat. This is basically due to the fact that incumbent, governor Jackson Mandago will not be eligible for re-election.
There have been several names linked to those eyeing to be the second governor in Uasin Gishu, ranging from billionaire businessman Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki, Prof. Julius Bitok, Kesses MP Dr Swarup Mishra alias Kiprop arap Chelule, his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi to name but just a few.
But even as people think over on who among those interested for the sit is fit enough to take over the mandle from the vocal Mandago, there is another name being linked to the powerful county post, David Kiplagat.
Popularly known as DK, the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker is now said to be among those who will be in the race to succeed Mandago in 2022.
In the 2017 general elections, DK unsuccessfully vied for the Soy Parliamentary seat, after failing at the Jubilee party primaries.
He, however, managed to get a political lifeline after beating all odds to win the equally influential County Assembly Speaker post, beating favourite candidate Christopher Mitei, who was rumoured to be Mandago’s choice.
With this era of social media, already his candidature is being sold out to the potential voters.

The County Assembly Speaker, an IT expert, is known to be a deep-pocketed individual with the ability to financially match any of those who have expressed interest for the seat.
Whether DK will vie for the post is a matter of wait and see and as to Whether he will manage to get the seat or not is also a matter of time will tell.
