Television Journalist Jacque Maribe and her fiancé Joseph Irungu alias Jowie were on Monday charged with the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

Maribe and Jowie appeared before High Court Judge Jessie Lessit and pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.

The TV journalist and her fiancé will now continue spending time in remand prison pending the application to be released on bail.

Justice Lessit has since placed Maribe and Irungu’s murder file before another Judge who will on Wednesday, October 17 give dates for their bail application and hearing.

During the Monday court session, several top media personalities believed to be Maribe’s colleagues attended the court session.

Here are the media personalities who came to ‘console’ Maribe in court on Monday.

1. Kirigo Ng’arua 

She is a former Citizen TV news anchor.  Ng’arua was sacked in 2017 and is considered as Jacque Maribe’s closest friend.

2. Shix Kapienga- radio presenter 

Nancy Wanjiku alias Shix Kapienga is a famous radio presenter and a close friend of Maribe.

3. Terryanne Chebet 

She is a former Citizen TV business news anchor and reporter. Chebet is also Jacque Mairbe’ close friend.

4.Dennis Itumbi 

He is the State House Director of Digital Communication. Itumbi arrived at the Milimani Law Courts very early and followed the proceedings.

Maribe will be detained at the Langata women's remand prison while Jowie will be at Industrial Area prison pending there bail hearing.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji has opposed bail application for the two accused persons on grounds that they could interfere with investigation and witnesses.
