A section of women leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto has come out to criticise their counterparts who are believed to be part of their rival 'Kieleweke' faction.
Led by firebrand Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, nominated Millicent Omanga and Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici, the leaders further poked holes into the famous March 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during the launch of women empowerment affirmative action in Malindi constituency on Friday, Ngirici challenged former legislators Rachel Shebesh and Priscilla Nyokabi who were appointed by President Kenyatta into state jobs after losing their seats in 2017 to come out and compete with them.
The duo has been members of Ruto’s rival group.
“Tokeni hizo viti zenyu na mje hapa tupelekane bampa to bampa na muone vile tutakaa. (Get out of those seats and come battle with us one on one and you will see how it will be)” Ngirici said in a video shared on Youtube.
On her part, Aisha Jumwa questioned the handshake between Raila and Uhuru pointing out that she was chased out of ODM for having a handshake with William Ruto.
"Mimi mwenyewe nilikuwa nakubali handshake na nilikuja kujua hapa hakuna handshake wakati mimi Aisha Jumwa niilkumbatia mkono wa Deputy President na nikafukuzwa Chama. (I personally accepted the handshake and I came to know there was no handshake here when I Aisha Jumwa shook hands with the Deputy President and I was chased out of the party," she said.
