Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has been dragged into the political wrangles between Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and a former Kitutu Chache MP contestant Antony Kibagendi.
Maangi while dismissing claims that he slapped Kibagendi on Friday last week at Kisii Sports Club mentioned Onyonka who was present at the club ready to welcome DP Ruto.
According to the Deputy Governor, said he never had any discussion with Kibagendi about MP Onyonka.
"I have heard that one Kibagendi claims that the discussion which made me slap him was about Hon Richard Onyonka. Let me categorically state that nothing can be further from the truth. No point I had such discussion with the former MP hopeful," he said.
He instead claimed that Kibagendi is trying to gain cheap publicity.
"Popularity is not found through propaganda. It is high time residents to give deaf ears to desperate individuals seeking to be leaders," noted Maangi.
Maang insisted that 2022 succession politics should not take the centre stage because 2022 general election is far.
The ODM allied Governor said no one will make a decision on behalf of the electorates.
