Speaking during an exclusive interview on KTN on Tuesday, the Bungoma Senator said that he had met Haji before and reminded him that there is need to step up the war to end the vice before it is too late.

He insisted that what the office of the DPP is doing is not enough to change the situation in the country.

Wetangula said that Haji is trying his best but more has to be done to end the problem and went on to challenge the DPP to ensure that persons linked to corruption are arrested and charged in a court of law over the same.

“I have had an opportunity with the DPP and told him to reduce his media presence and tweets and do his work. You cannot prosecute matters through media headlines. Let people see you in courts with watertight evidence,” he said, as quoted by Standard.

He also said that he has forgiven ODM leader Raila Odinga after a misunderstanding following the mock swearing-in event.

The remarks of the senator come at a time when President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to fight graft.

Several leaders including ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi have backed Uhuru in the war against corruption.
