In elections conducted to select student leaders,  Felix Adundo, clinched the Rongo University Student Association (RUSA) chair.

Things turned ugly immediately the results were announced. A section of students protested the election of Adundo.

Oliver Wamayeye, a third year student taking Communication and Journalism lost to Adundo by one vote.

The demonstrating students wanted Wamayeye installed as the RUSA chair.

The protests forced the police to use teargas and rubber bullets to dissociate the students.

"All we want is Wamayeye installed as our 2019/2020 president. Rongo will know no peace until they give us the president we want," one of the delegates opined.

"Adundo is the delegates' president. Our president is Oliver Wamayeye. Rongo cannot be led by politicians. We need leaders who will salvage Rongo from ugly leadership of the past. That's the reason why we are demonstrating until we realize justice," one of the demonstrating students said.
