Nyamira County commissioner Amos Mariba has fired warning shots to a section of members of the clergy misleading residents against the Huduma namba initiative.
Mariba while speaking on Wednesday in Nyamira town accused some members of the clergy of seeking relevance and fame.
"Huduma Namba has nothing to do with the '666' number associated with Illuminati. The initiative will help the government offer services quickly to people and reduce paperwork in government offices," he stated.
The county security chief said members of the clergy are confused and are peddling falsehoods to their followers.
He appealed to residents to turn up in large numbers to register in the initiative adding that it is for their own benefit.
"Residents who don't register to get the Huduma Namba may find it difficult to access government services. Chiefs in deep villages should mobilise residents to register," said Mariba.
The County Commissioner vowed to traverse the whole county to see how the registration of people is going on.
Mariba warned chiefs against laziness in the initiative saying that they should good ambassadors representing the government deep in the villages.
